5 Holiday Marketing Tips to set you up to win this holiday season

You know what I love about the holiday season in the salon? Well, aside from the obvious holiday festivities and it being the busiest time of the year for hairstylists. It’s the holiday retail and gift giving for me.  

Did you know… Retail/beauty products and salon tools make the absolute best gifts?  

From travel size products like the Calura styling travel kit to hair accessories and flat irons. This is the time of giving and there is no better place for clients to grab some gifts than your salon. 

Today I wanted to share my top 5 holiday marketing tips and ideas so you are set up to win for this holiday season. Here are my top 5 tips:  

  1.  Gifts under $20
    I would choose some of your favorite grab go items that are less than $20. You know what the best gifts are under $20? Travel size products. They make great stocking stuffers too. I mean who doesn't love a good Oligo cleansing shampoo and conditioner when they travel? Also think about what gifts your clients would love to purchase to give to their friends and family. I love lip glosses, chapstick, hair accessories like scrunchies or barretts. Ask yourself what is trending right now that will make a great impulse buy items at check out?  TIP...I would share these gifts under $20 and why you love them on your social platforms. Add a beautiful photo and 3 reasons why this would be a great gift for their friends and family.  
  1. Holiday product gift guide
    Pick your top 5 favorite items in your business and create a little mini gift guide and even some quick videos on why you love them so much. Be sure to get your team involved to do some IG or FB lives. This is always a great way to showcase their favorite items in real time, and engage with current and potential clients. What are your top 5 Oligo Products? I mean I can tell you it’s the blow dry mist for me. But Oligo also just launched the NEW Volume Holiday Kit just in time for the holiday season. This kit has all 4 volumizing products and is packaged up so beautifully for this time of year.   
  1. Run a selfie contest. 
    For the month of December have your clients take a selfie after they had their hair done of course, and have them post it on IG. They must tag you or the salon and once they do they will be entered in to win a beautiful holiday gift basket with all of the salons favorite products. How fun is this? TIP...I suggest putting the gift basket out so the clients can see exactly what they can win. It’s always a great idea to get your clients involved in something like this for the holidays.  
  1. Share a few quick makeup or hair tutorials/tips or those holiday partiesI would create a few reels or tiktoks in which you can share some quick tips on choosing the perfect red lip or creating a smokey eye. Maybe even a quick trendy up-do that your clients can recreate easily. If you want to do something a bit more in depth you can also create an IGTV video. On the back end of these quick videos, remember to share the retail items and products and how they can purchase them.   

  2. Create a designated area for holiday gift sets and promotional items. 
    The way your retail area is set up in your salon space is huge. I suggest a designated table or shelf where all the promotional items are displayed. I also love a good tester for those hairsprays, oils, or creams. Clients love to get their hands into products and play around with them first. Make this area festive with holiday ribbon and pretty glass jars for your grab and go items.   

Last but not least. Be sure to send out email marketing campaigns to share all the new products and promotions you have going on in the salon. I suggest sending out an email early in November that showcases all the gift ideas, retail promotions, and even a gift giving guide of your 5 favorite Oligo products.
